does learning disability cause low self-esteem and caused depression?

I have a learning disability and I was wondering if it can cause low self-esteem/depression. When I was little I never tried hard because the subjects were too hard for me, but i received help in special ed. Until I got in high school, I started working harder and challenging myself because I don’t want people to look down on me or call me slow or dumb, so I work hard to prove it to them that I can excel just like them.

I was depressed when I was around age 12 or 13 until i was about 16, and I got over it when I became a Christian. But i still feel depressed when things don’t go the way I planned like when I fail a subject or I do poorly academically even when people call me dumb or hurt my feelings. I will cry silently. Having this learning disability makes me lack confidence in myself and I sometimes think i will fail academically. As a college student now, I am working harder and getting better grades. I went from D-F student to a C student and now B student. I even a honor student in my major.

But it still not enough because of my learning disability had prevented me from excelling unless i try hard. I always wish I was smart, but I am not. It’s like the glass ceiling. I can never go over that glass ceiling because I struggle academically and in life. I am shy and quiet and have no confidence.

What do you guys think? Is my learning disability causing me to have low self-esteem or is it just me?
my boyfriend says he knows i have low-self-esteem which really bother me. Because no one has really told me I have low self-esteem, but I know that I do have low-self esteem. But I just think I lack confidence. Low-self-esteem seems to harsh to put it that way. What he said really bothered me
